This school project involved redesigning a fundraising event flyer for Central Dauphin High School of Technology’s car wash fundraiser. The original flyer failed to effectively engage its audience—students, parents, grandparents, and the local community. My goal was to create a friendly, visually appealing flyer design that better connected with the target audience while promoting participation in this community-driven event.
Central Dauphin High School of Technology needed a fresh approach to promoting its car wash fundraising event, which aimed to support the Education Department. The target audience included families, local community members, and others who value youth-focused initiatives. The flyer required a casual, fun tone, engaging visuals, and a clear call-to-action to effectively capture attention and drive participation.
To revamp the flyer design, I focused on creating a bright, welcoming aesthetic that reflects the event’s purpose and appeal. A cheerful palette of blues and yellows conveys a summery, fun atmosphere. Key visual elements include bubbles and an image of a person washing a car, reinforcing the event’s theme while drawing attention.
The title is prominently displayed within foamy soap bubbles, ensuring both readability and a playful hierarchy that naturally guides viewers through the details. A cartoon-style typeface adds a lighthearted touch, aligning with the casual vibe of the fundraising event flyer, while a complementary sans serif typeface ensures the text remains legible and approachable.
The layout balances the title at the top and a car image at the bottom, creating visual harmony and balance. Thoughtful use of text hierarchy ensures viewers can quickly identify key details, such as the event’s purpose, date, and call-to-action. By emphasizing the flyer’s community-focused nature, this design promotes the car wash as a family-friendly, inclusive event that supports local education.
